Our classrooms are set up into learning centers giving each child the opportunity to explore what interests him or her most and to work where he or she feels most comfortable.

Our School Philosophy
Our School is a high-quality program committed to providing the best possible learning environment. Our classrooms are set up into learning centers giving each child the opportunity to explore what interests him or her most and to work where he or she feels most comfortable.
Our School Vision
The children will learn and grow at their own pace through our developmentally appropriate curriculum. We want our children to know that they are special individuals and to understand the meaning of cooperation, compassion and fairness. We want them to learn to be independent. The children learn through books, a variety of art media, gross motor activities, field trips, cooking activities, music, and of course play.
Our Behavior Guidance
It is very important to respect a child’s stage of development and use guidance to teach young children appropriate behaviors. We accept children as individuals and have age appropriate expectations. We work to help children identify appropriate and inappropriate behavior; learn appropriate problem solving strategies; develop self-reulation skills, empathy, a positive self-esteem; and learn acceptance of self and others. Children are learning what behaviors are appropriate and we believe it is our job to guide them to make good decisions about what to do or not to do.
Our Inclusionary Practice
As with all children at Our School, including children with disabilities, we have the ability to design and implement activities which are developmentally appropriate for each child. We welcome other services and support to assist us making modifications to the environment, materials, curriculum and teaching approaches.

Jill Larson - Owner/Director
- Bachelor of Science Degree in Elementary Education with a major in Early Childhood Education.
- Continues her education with over 30 hours of continuing education on topics related to early childhood every year.
- Over 40 years of teaching experience.
- Developed and directs Our School Nursery School, licensed by the state of Maine since 1988.
- Developed and directs The Gathering Place - Adult Social Day Center, licensed by the state of Maine since October 2008.
- York Citizen of the year 2014.
